VFW Post Post 4103 is pleased to announce the winner for the 2023 Smart and Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year:

Marlis Ringseis.

Marlis Ringseis, a Culinary Arts Instructor at El Camino High School. During her tenure, Ms. Ringseis has not only overseen a total renovation of the Culinary Arts lab, but also completely revamped the curriculum transitioning it from a more traditional home economics "food" class, to a UC a through g approved high-quality Career Technical Education pathway. One of her colleagues said "She is simply amazing and has helped so many students to succeed with a life skill that is critical for happiness and healthiness.” And a student said "She is understanding and supportive.”
